At the beginning of this year, a foundation construction unit in Nantong, Jiangsu contacted us and said that one of their compaction machines had frequent chassis problems recently, especially the track plate cracking. The vibration during the compaction operation was particularly large, and the equipment had to be compacted hundreds of times every day. The original track plate could not even last for a month.
The customer said directly: "This car breaks down every few days. Once it breaks down, the construction site has to stop. The impact is too great."
After listening to it, we probably had an idea. Although the compaction machine is also a crawler equipment, it is more "violent" than an excavator or a bulldozer - it not only has to withstand the high tonnage load of the machine itself, but also has to withstand the huge impact and vibration caused by repeated impacts in the vertical direction.
We recommend that customers replace the thickened track shoes designed for heavy-duty impact equipment. The specific optimizations are as follows:
1. Use high-toughness alloy steel, heat-treat the whole body, and improve crack resistance;
2. The plate body is thickened to 1.3 times that of conventional plates to ensure compressive strength;
3. The hole reinforcement ring structure prevents deformation or loosening during severe vibration;
4. Anti-rust paint is sprayed on the surface to adapt to the humid construction site environment.
The customer was a little hesitant at first. After all, several batches of track shoes of different brands did not last long before. We promised to "send a set for testing first, and we will be responsible if it doesn't work."
Less than two weeks after the installation, the customer took the initiative to send a video of the construction site of the tamping machine. We were relieved at a glance - the ground was very dusty, the equipment was rising and falling violently, but the track was running very steadily. The workers on site said as they walked: "This time the plate is much more stable, and there is no abnormal sound when it vibrates."
A month later, the customer officially placed an order for 5 sets of track shoes, intending to gradually replace all the tamping machines on the construction site. Now, they have recommended us to two neighboring brother companies doing foundation engineering.
Sometimes, customers don’t want the cheapest track plate, but the most worry-free one. The equipment does not stop, and the construction period is not delayed. This is the real "cost control" for the construction company.
